TEACH TEC is accredited by the State Board of Career Colleges and Schools to provide certified career training. Nearly 15 years ago TEACH TEC began as a faith and community-based nonprofit organization whose mission is to move individuals to economic and wellness self-sufficiency in order to have the opportunity to excel and live a quality life. TEACH TEC was awarded the prestigious Governors Award for Excellence in Public Service and has been recognized for its best practice by the Department of Labor, HUD and influential leaders in America, including President George Bush, Former President Clinton, Former Governor Bob Taft, Senator George Voinovich, Congressman Pat Tiberi and Mayor Michael Coleman. According to John Knight, an independent Evaluator at Northwestern University, “All projects should be modeled after TEACH TEC as it relates to community services. TEACH TEC has four areas of program focus: - Life Works When You Work: Preparing women and men who need workforce training in the new world of work; provide skills upgrade in order to reach self-sufficiency while maintaining healthy relationships. Provides core and intensive services to individuals seeking specialized job training and life skills development to create a qualified workforce with lifelong learning.
- Take Another Look: Focuses on issues in order to change the perception of young African American men to obtain employment and work skills in order to pay child support and contribute to society. To create positive social change in the urban community for African American young men. TAL works to change the perception of African American males.
- Youth Academy: A life skills program to assist youth in creating a plan to reach career goals and develop leadership skills. Our aim is to challenge youth to explore their greatest potential for achievement. With emphasis on improving academic success, improving classroom attendance, self-esteem and confidence. To be a catalyst for positive change in the lives of the youth we work with daily and to help them graduate from high school.
- Urban Wellness Initiative (UWI): Awareness initiative designed to promote health and wellness in the urban community in which African American males ages 8-80 understand the importance of their family history. To promote healthy lifestyle interventions in order to prevent chronic health diseases. Founder of the Annual African American Male Wellness Walk.
